Journey of a voice

Have you ever dreamed and aspired to do something for so long that once it starts happening it just feels normal?  I know I have. I have been writing Religious LDS songs now for almost a year and a half. My ultimate goal is to get at least 1 song on an E.F.Y C.D. (Especially for Youth) I now have almost 10 songs completed and am now in the process of getting the songs 100% clean, pure and sounding great. I have been speaking with the producer of most of the E.F.Y CD'S and he has MY CD!  He got in touch with me and I met up with him last week and we are going to start working together. This blog will not only be about how we can get back to our Heavenly Father by being healthy & happy.  But it will also be the journey of a girl that has dreamed as long as she can remember to be a singer/songwriter for the LDS church. So follow along the Journey, this will be my journal of the life of an aspiring LDS vocalist!

A Beacon to the World

Source   Two weeks ago I was able to speak in Sacrament Meeting in our new ward.  The topic was from April 2011 General Conference on Temples.  It was amazing!!  I learned so much from that talk and I want to share with all of you a little from that talk.... I truly feel that doing temple work is one of the most important things we can do here on earth.  There are so many people who have died without the Gospel in their lives who are waiting for someone to do that for them here on earth.  President Monson in his talk spoke about how the opportunity that he has had to dedicate and rededicate temples has been among the most enjoyable and sacred of the blessings he has received since becoming the Prophet.  In the October General Conference in 1902, Church President Joseph F Smith said that one day he hoped that we would “have temples built in the various parts of the world where they are needed for the convenience of the people”  During the ...

Scripture of the Day

Joshua 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"

Why am I so impatient??? I have GOT to work on this.  Does anybody else need to work on this with me?? I was with a friend today making the cutest little craft... her little boy was there and he was really fussy today, he was tired but didn't really want to go to sleep... he wanted to sit on her lap. Did she freak out, yell or throw a fit??... NOPE!  She was all about talking sweet with him, giving him kisses and talking to him... ALL while he was crying.  Oh and did I mention we were doing a craft?  I was so impressed, because that wouldn't have been how I acted in that situation. She was such a good example to me today and I learned a lot from her because I want to be like her in that aspect!  She is so patient! I found this AWESOME quote by Richard L Evans on Patience: "There seems to be little evidence that the Creator of the universe was ever in a hurry.  Everywhere, on this bounteous and beautiful earth, and to the farthest reaches of the firm...

{Sometimes}

Image
"Sometimes we have to let go of the life we have planned - To have the life that is waiting for us." Once we all learn how to really put our lives in God's hands, we will then be truly happy.  We will trust, have faith and have the spirit with us to help guide us along the paths that God wants us on.  This is something we should all be striving for... To put our trust in God and know that EVERYTHING is going to be ok. My dad always said: "Don't sweat the small stuff, because it's all small stuff" Really, If we live our lives worthy and always strive to do what's right.  Everything will be alright!

There is no excuse...

(This is my cute dad) I have been thinking a lot about the topic I am going to be writing about today.  It has especially been on my mind since August 14th when my brother, Chan gave his homecoming talk after returning home from the Boston, Mass. mission.  His talk hit me like a ton of bricks, it was amazing.  His talk was on Obedience .  To back up a little bit.... before Chan left on his mission he was set apart as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  In the blessing Chan was told that he needed to be completely obedient to the commandments and to whatever rules the Mission President had set in order to receive all the blessings promised and to find many people to teach the Gospel to.  So, Chan did just that, he was completely obedient and successful all the way up until September 12th 2010.  This was the day our dear father passed away.  It was so incredibly hard for us! It was the hardest trial we had ...

For the girls...

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley Now that is exactly how I want to show up to the pearly gates. I want to REALLY live. I challenge you this coming week to look for opportunities to serve others!

Be Thankful

Image
Many of us go day to day not really realizing ALL we have to be thankful for. A lot of times we think that the times we are living in are terrible, hard, not easy and no one understands. Those are just a few of the words I hear myself and others muttering during those trials and hard times. Everyone has trials, no matter who the person is.  Just because someone is happy and positive all the time doesn't mean that they aren't or haven't gone through something terrible recently.  They are happy because being happy and positive is how they CHOOSE to deal with that hardship!  Now am I perfect at this?  Is anyone really perfect at this?  No.  But we can all strive to work on that.  Happy and positive people are just more fun to be around.  Wouldn't you agree? If you are going through a particularly hard time I would like to challenge you to something.  Each day write down two things you are grateful for....  For example 1. Family  2. The...
